Well? How did he do???
Oh, he did just fine, of course, but it’ll still be some time before the actual promotion comes down the pipe. He’s adding more points here and there so next time they aren’t maxed out (which they generally are these days in the MP corps) he should be getting… well not pinned, but velcroed (bah- what a joke. It’s just not as fun if you can’t pound four sharp pins into the collarbones of the newly promoted. If I had to get the hell beat outta me by my platoon a week after I got to Iraq, everyone else should, too).
In semi-related news, my exemption from being recalled has been approved. That means I will not be forced to leave my kids with a pack of wolves while I get dragged back to active duty. I am a little sad though, to be completely out of the Army. I expect I will get over it though.

Can’t you just lug the kids around in your ruck?

Unfortunately not, or I wouldn’t have needed to get out! ^_^

Don’t worry about being out of the Army for good. EVERYONE get’s over that. They boarded me just before I was discharged. They used to do that to try to get us to re-up. No chance. It sounds like you live next door to my sister. She’s ex-Navy and her husband is a Navy Pilot. The services just seem to want to screw with people sometimes. I hope you guys feel better. Heck give em’ the syrup, didn’t kill me either. What are we raising these days anyway? :)

I dunno, Ducky, velcro can give you a nasty scrape if you rub it the wrong way, rather like a new scrubby sponge. Of course, it would take about 5 minutes of vigorous grinding to make an effect, but who’s counting?

Vigorous grinding. Heh.

I often feel really…naive when I read your blog when in talks about military stuff. Am I the only eternal-civilian that reads you? What are they going to pin him (or rather, velcro) him TO, by the way?
And points getting maxed out? It sounds like a RPG.
And if the Army calls you back into to active service, what exactly DOES happen to the kids? I’m sure it’s happened to some mom, somewhere…and do they make sure the wolves have had their rabies shots, and that they are good around kids?
Anyhoo–thank heaven you’re clear of that!
